WARRIOR WRESTLING STAFF
Besides a great practice partner, the next most important asset of a wrestler is their coach. Finding a great one is tough, let alone multiple in the same room. At Warrior Wrestling we pride ourselves in having one of the most experienced and knowledgeable staffs in the area. And more importantly, the staff LOVES wrestling. It's in their blood. It's what they love to do. Plus, they enjoy nothing more than sharing their love and passion of this sport with your child.
With decades of competitive wrestling and coaching experience at the state, national, collegiate, and international level, our staff brings an unprecedented level of excitement and energy to the practice room every day. They are students of the sport, and are constantly learning about the latest training methods, and techniques. You can be confident that your child will be getting world class instruction at each and every session, and the Warrior Wrestling Staff will ensure your child learns our three guiding principles of practice: listening, working hard, and most importantly HAVING FUN!
COACH BOERSMA
Coach Eric Boersma is an alum of Portage Central with over 25 years of coaching experience. While in high school, Coach Boersma was a 2x Asics Tiger High School All-American, 2x State Finalist, and undefeated state champion. Upon graduation he took his talents to Western Michigan where he earned 4 Letters for the Bronco Football Team in the mid 90's. During that time he stayed competitive, and continued wrestling on the national circuit. After hanging up his competitive shoes, Eric continued coaching, and has been doing so ever since at various high schools across the area. He founded the Warrior Wrestling Club with the desire to provide local kids with the opportunity to learn the sport at their own pace, in a fun and engaging manner. The end goal is to help kids build a life long love for the sport of wrestling.
COACH NUNEZ
Coach Marcileno Nunez is the head wrestling coach at Portage Central High School. He has been involved in the sport for over 20 years, and believes the mental lessons his athletes learn prepare them to be successful both on the mat and throughout life.
A passionate, and committed coach, "Marci" brings an unprecedented amount of energy and passion to the wrestling room each and every day!
